Name: Erin Petersen
Date of Birth: 3/26/83
Occupation: Math Modeler at The Boeing Company
CrossFitting Since: Spring 2011
First CrossFit Experience: Bootcamp 1.0! I had never done any sort of weightlifting, so I was intimidated by barbells and heavy weights. Bootcamp was a great introduction to the CFBT community and spirit and preparation for regular Crossfit classes. And it’s fun seeing my fellow bootcampers around the gym.
Favorite CrossFit WOD: I like the long drawn out ones with a little bit of everything. The kind where you just have to keep moving. Murph comes to mind. Plus anything with power cleans!
Favorite Lift: Power clean!
Least Favorite WOD: Anything without power cleans! Before I got a hang of double unders, Annie was a frustrating 20 minutes….and Nancy!
Favorite CrossFit Moment: My favorite personal Crossfit moment was my first unassisted handstand. Handstands always seemed like something I couldn’t do. Knowing that I was strong enough and coordinated enough to actually do a handstand felt awesome. I also like every time the class is encouraging the last person to finish the workout. That never stops being inspirational.
Why do you CrossFit: I Crossfit because it makes me feel like an athlete and motivates me to make fitness and nutrition priorities in my life. I like how the workouts are different everyday so it’s always interesting. It’s also convenient being strong – I haven’t encountered a heavy grocery bag or an unopenable jar since I started!
Cheat Meal of choice: Pizza and ice cream.
CrossFit Secret: (do you secretly talk to yourself during the workouts? Do you intentionally tell yourself to get through 1 round then you will rest…those kind of quirky things you might not share unless asked. I like to jump into the second movement before resting while I’m still relieved to not be doing the first movement.
What do you do on your days off: I usually hit the grocery store on my days off and spend extra time making dinner and walking the dog or taking him to the off leash dog park.
Dream vacation spot: I would like to go to Norway and see some fjords.
