First Memorable CrossFit Experience: My first ever WOD was a 40 min AMRAP of 10 burpees, 10 ring rows and then a run of 200 M every 4 minutes. After I picked myself up off the floor, Joe instructed us we shouldn’t drink for 48 hours after the workout. Slightly perplexed, utterly exhausted and having just taken the beating of a lifetime, I was hooked.
Favorite WOD: Filthy Fifty or any long chipper.
Favorite Lift: Push Press and Split Jerks
Least Favorite WOD: Isabel. Really, who likes snatches?
Favorite CrossFit Moment: Finishing 16.5 Rx. J Sure it took over 40 minutes and every minute hurt worse than the last…but the finish couldn’t have felt better. I still get a little anxious every time I see a 21-18-15-12-9-6-3 rep scheme.
Why You Do CrossFit: To experience that feeling of accomplishment and comradery, when you thought you couldn’t keep going and somehow you end up smashing the WOD. Finishing crazy mud runs and carrying all my groceries up in one trip…that’s pretty cool too.
Favorite Cheat Meal: Pizza and all things made of carbs!!!!
CrossFit Secret: Learning how to take patience and humility to the next level. Sometimes to go forward you have to go back, drop weight, back off going for that PR and work on your form to get better. I’ve also found taking the time to work on mobility and accessory work, even ten minutes a day helps tremendously. But the most important thing? Show up. Even when you don’t want to.
What Do You Do On Rest Days: When I’m not working or sleeping, you’ll find me enjoying the outdoors or plotting my next adventure…like a Spartan race or two (or ten).
What Can’t You Live Without: My electric blanket, the internet and the friends and family I can’t live without.
Favorite Vacation Spot: Somewhere lost in the beauty of the mountains during the day, with the convenience and comfort of the city at night. Whistler, Banff & Jasper are up there on the list!
