First Memorable CrossFit Experience: It was my second time doing Bootcamp and the workout was focused around static holds. The white board said hold a squat for 9 minutes and I thought “oh they must be messing with us, that can’t be in the workout.” Well it was no joke and if anyone in the group fell out of the squat before time was up, everyone had to do burpees! Talk about pressure! That drive to not let my fellow boot campers down made me hold that squat for 9 minutes. To push myself mentally to accomplish something physically was incredible, I knew CrossFit was for me.
Favorite WOD: Anything with running and a lift mixed together. I was a runner before starting CrossFit, so it’s something I could do straight out of the gate. Mixing something like thrusters or deadlifts in gives cardio a whole new meaning….love it.
Favorite Lift: Deadlifts (who knew one could lift so much more than one weighs)
Least Favorite WOD: Anything with double-unders or snatches. I struggle with the timing on these movements and tend to dread them, but they also teach me to be patient and keep practicing to get better one step at a time.
Favorite CrossFit Moment: When I did 17.1 at RX weight. I didn’t finish the entire workout in 20 minutes, but I got further than I ever thought possible. CrossFit has taught me to not underestimate myself, something I’ve been notorious for and it’s helped my confidence in so many other aspects of my life.
Why You Do CrossFit: I’ve always tried to lead an active lifestyle, but the constant variety in workout programming has made me stronger and fitter than anything I’ve ever done, not to mention being challenged every time I walk in the door. I don’t think anyone could say they were bored while doing CrossFit. And the best part is you have all these amazing people around you providing genuine support and encouragement. Having my back and arms look good in my wedding dress, well that’s a nice perk too. 🙂
Favorite Cheat Meal: I actually enjoy eating healthy meals, but I’m a total sucker for pastries and dark chocolate!
CrossFit Secret: Listen to the coaches. I have made so much progress by implementing their tips and recommendations — they really are incredible at what they do!
What Do You Do On Rest Days: When I’m not traveling with my fiance Jeffrey, we love to do road trips to explore Washington and Oregon. I also love to do long runs along the Puget Sound or Lake Union.
What Can’t You Live Without: My fiance, family, my two kitties Sterling and Archer, and my Mom’s watch.
Favorite Vacation Spot: I love Hawaii, the French riviera, and anywhere in Italy.
