Name: Lisa Elizondo
DOB: September 7, 1990
CrossFitting Since: On and off since 2013.
First Memorable CrossFit Experience: To be honest, probably the time I burst into tears while doing wall balls at a box in Dallas. I was having a bad day!
Favorite WOD: Diane. That workout feels like it was dreamt up specifically for me.
Favorite Lift: Cleans. They feel almost super-human when you nail them.
Least Favorite WOD: ANYTHING, and I mean anything, involving double-unders.
Favorite CrossFit Moment: I want to say the time I PR’ed at [X] lift, but it’s probably the time Eric pulled my weightlifting belt so tight what I let out a slow-motion Michael Jackson “hee hee” when I went to squat. Guess you had to be there.
Why You Do CrossFit: It sounds trite, but for my overall health–both mental and physical. I love the sense of accomplishment that comes after completing a difficult workout and being able to see marked improvements over time. It’s also the closest approximation to team sports that I’ve been able to find in my adult life–the support (at Belltown in particular) of your classmates and the (friendly) competition amongst members is incredibly motivating.
Favorite Cheat Meal: I’m not an especially strict eater at this point in my life, but my ultimate indulgence is a greasy tuna melt on sourdough bread. In case you’re wondering, the perfect tuna melt can be found at the cafe at the Federal Courthouse in Downtown Seattle.
CrossFit Secret: Taking a proper rest day (or days). And hot yoga. I feel completely rejuvenated when returning to the gym after both.
What Do You Do On Rest Days: Usually something related to music–I play the guitar, the ukulele, I dabble (very lightly) in the piano, and I’m also a choral singer. So you will probably find me studying or practicing music of some kind.
What Can’t You Live Without: Spotify. What did we ever do before on-demand music streaming?
Favorite Vacation Spot: Italy, hands down. The highest-quality food, wine, and art everywhere you turn. What’s not to love?
